Rainbows from around the world sent to Regina girl

We all know the days of dark and stormy clouds when the rain belts down and you wonder what Mother Nature is doing to you. Then there is a break in the clouds and the sun re-emerges and he sight of a rainbow in the sky can just lift you up and brighten your day. That is the world for 10-year-old Maranda Beach.

The young Regina girl has a condition called microcephaly. Adopted by her mother Crystal Beach just before she was two years old, her short life has often been spent traveling across North America to specialists for tests, exams and other medical appointments.

Microcephaly is a neurodevelopmental disorder that makes a person’s head smaller than average. The brain can't grow normally and it causes range of medical issues both physical and mental. In general, life expectancy for individuals with microcephaly is reduced and the prognosis for normal brain function is poor.
The one thing Maranda gets comfort from is rainbows. They are a source of happiness for her and she believes they connect people and the world...Continue reading...
