Qadfafi's Daughter Starts Trouble from Algeria
photo ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) — Moammar Gadhafi's daughter urged Libyans on Tuesday to overthrow their new rulers, possibly violating the terms of her exile in Algeria.
In an audio message broadcast on Syria's al-Rai television station, Aisha Gadhafi called for a revolt against the men who overthrew her father, the government she said "arrived with the planes of NATO."
"My father has not left, he is always among us," she said, following the traditional 40-day mourning period after his death. "Don't forget the orders of your father urging you to continue fighting, even if you no longer hear his voice."...Read here...

Last survivors of the Holocaust keep memories alive

By Mark Lowen BBC News, Macedonia "...At 89 years old, she is one of the few who remembers the deportation of the Macedonian Jews, sent by the occupying Bulgarian forces to the Nazi German death camp at Treblinka in Poland. Jamila only survived by hiding in Macedonia and then joining Tito's partisan resistance.
As she casts her mind back, her kindly eyes suddenly narrow and a look of sheer anger fills her elderly face.
"I can't forget the screams as the soldiers arrived," she says, almost shouting. "I still dream about them. And now, when I laugh, something aches in my heart."
As the cold, cramped trains filled with deportees wound their way from the Balkans through Central Europe and up into Poland, they may even have passed another camp on the way - Plaszow, just outside the city of Krakow, since immortalised in the film Schindler's List..."Read here...

Egypt in uproar after blogger posts nude photos
By Kristin Deasy
November 24, 2011 An Egyptian blogger who sparked controversy last week by posting a photo of herself naked online has also launched a campaign calling on men to don the Islamic headscarf.
However, the Facebook campaign, launched by Aliaa Elmahdy in support of women's rights, was shut down after it was hit by thousands of complaints last week. Elmahdy plans to relaunch it within days.
Elmahdy sent shockwaves through Egypt's highly traditional society when one of her friends shared a photo of her wearing nothing but a pair of shoes and stockings on Twitter with the hashtag #nudephotorevolutionary...Read more...

Egypt in uproar after blogger posts nude photos
By MAGGIE MICHAEL
updated 11/17/2011 11:23:49 AM ETCAIRO — An activist who posted nude pictures of herself on her blog to protest limits on free expression has triggered an uproar in Egypt, drawing condemnations from conservatives and liberals alike.
Some liberals feared that the posting by 20-year-old university student Aliaa Magda Elmahdy would taint them in the eyes of deeply conservative Egyptians ahead of Nov. 28 parliamentary elections in which they are trying to compete with fundamentalist Islamic parties.Nudity is strongly frowned upon in Egyptian society, even as an art form.
Elmahdy's posting is almost unheard of in a country where most women in the Muslim majority wear the headscarf and even those who don't rarely wear clothes exposing the arms or legs in public.Aliaa Magda Elmahdy's blog (contains images of male and female nudity) ... Read here...

Time to Leave Planet Earth according to Mr. Hawking
photo TORONTO - Stephen Hawking says the colonization of outer space is key to the survival of humankind, predicting it will be difficult for the world's inhabitants "to avoid disaster in the next hundred years...Our population and our use of the finite resources of planet Earth are growing exponentially, along with our technical ability to change the environment for good or ill. But our genetic code still carries the selfish and aggressive instincts that were of survival advantage in the past. It will be difficult enough to avoid disaster in the next hundred years, let alone the next thousand or million.

Meet the Police's New 'Sound Canons'
By Mark Russell, Newser Staff
Posted Nov 21, 2011 8:19 AM CST
(Newser) – Last week's police busts on Occupy camps around the United States saw one of the highest-profile deployments yet of high-tech crowd control: sound cannons, reports the Week. Designed to keep birds out of the way of planes at airports, the "long range acoustic device," or LRAD for short, blasts high-frequency sound waves over a 300-meter range, causing intense pain that can incapacitate people.
Military-grade versions on the LRAD can fire off sound waves north of 160 decibels, well above the point that can cause hearing loss; the model typically used by police has a maximum of just 149 decibels and is typically used around 110 decibels—akin to the noise at a rock concert. Although several media outlets have reported that police in New York and Oakland used the LRADs on protesters last week, the NYPD denies having used its LRAD as a sound cannon—instead, it insists it only used its LRAD as a "megaphone," to broadcast instructions to protesters.read here
Penguins all-star Sidney Crosby returning tonite against Islanders
By Will Graves, The Associated Press | The Canadian Press
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Sid the Kid is back.
Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby will make his season debut on Monday against the New York Islanders, his first game in nearly a year since being sidelined with concussion-like symptoms.
Crosby hasn't played since taking head shots in consecutive games in January against Washington and Tampa Bay.
The 2007 NHL MVP spent the last 10 months undergoing a painstakingly thorough rehabilitation that left him wondering when — or even if — he'd play again and forced the league to take a harsher stance when it comes to policing head hits...Continue reading...

Inner Peace
photo If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment ,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
Then You Are Probably “The Family Dog”! http://lifecoachmary.com/blog/2010/02/inner-peace-this-is-so-true/

When will the U.S. drone war end? Intriguing...
This article caught Sam's attention. They have satellites that can read your licence plate now, and now these drones. This kind of news is not good news for paranoid schizophrenics. The temperature outside this morning, with windchill, was -30 F. This carcass has to venture outdoors this afternoon to visit doc. Eyes will watching these sparrows flying about, 'wondering, which one is these birds is a drone?'.
By Paul D. Miller, Published: November 17 "...The best argument for allowing the U.S. government to kill its citizens without charge or trial is that, as was the case during the Civil War, the president is authorized to defend this country against rebellion, which means he may wage war against rebels. Abraham Lincoln killed more Americans than did Bush or Obama — or al-Qaeda — and he was right to do so. He did not deploy the Union Army to arrest the Confederacy but to destroy it. It was his duty to do so..."Read 'when will the drone war end?. here
Army Tests Hypersonic Weapon Over The Pacific
imageBy: Associated Press HONOLULU -- The Army says it has conducted its first flight test of a new weapon capable of traveling five times the speed of sound.
The Army said in a news release that it launched the Advanced Hypersonic Weapon early Thursday from the military's Pacific Missile Range Facility on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
Lt. Col. Melinda Morgan, a Pentagon spokeswoman, says the weapon's glide vehicle reached Kwajalein Atoll - some 2,300 miles away - in less than half an hour.
The Congressional Research Service said in a report earlier this year that the Advanced Hypersonic Weapon is part of the military's program to develop weapons that would let the U.S. strike targets anywhere in the world with conventional weapons in as little as an hour.
The Air Force is developing a similar vehicle.Read here.

WHEN all the world is young, lad,
And all the trees are green ;
And every goose a swan, lad,
And every lass a queen ;
Then hey for boot and horse, lad,
And round the world away ;
Young blood must have its course, lad,
And every dog his day.
When all the world is old, lad,
And all the trees are brown ;
And all the sport is stale, lad,
And all the wheels run down ;
Creep home, and take your place there,
The spent and maimed among :
God grant you find one face there,
You loved when all was young. http://poetry.poetryx.com/poems/10601/
