Israel prepares to break ground on new ‘Trump city’

The area designated for "Trump City" | Photo: Golan Regional Council

U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights sparked considerable excitement in Israel, leading to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s call for the founding of a new community in the northern region to be named after the U.S. president.

The community – which is still in its early stages – will house 97 families. These past few weeks its popularity has grown and due to a large number of inquiries, the settlement has even created a hotline.

“We have received close to 100 inquiries, mostly from families in the U.S. and Canada who say that they want to make aliyah and live in ‘Trump city,'” Golan Regional Council head Haim Rokach said.

During the Six-Day War in 1967, Israel captured the Golan Heights. While the area has long been contested and  U.S. administration’s refused to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the region until Trump broke with that policy and noted that it should remain part of Israel due to its strategic importance...https://www.israelhayom.com/2019/05/24/the-pioneers-of-trump-heights/

Windsor photographer's shot of bald eagle and its reflection goes viral

Biro says the eagle had flown over the pond multiple times. (Submitted by Steve Biro)

Steve Biro had the photo of an eagle and its reflection in his mind before he went out door that day.

Even with a clear artistic vision, Biro wasn't sure he'd be successful. When he had tried to achieve that vision previously, it hadn't worked out.

"The year prior, the water was quite ripply. I found myself I wasn't in a great position to get the image that I was really hoping for," said Biro, who has been doing amateur photography for about ten years.

"This time I sat myself right down by the water. I laid down on a rock right at the water's edge and got nice and low."

And Biro was rewarded...https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/bald-eagle-steve-biro-1.5145556

Eurovision 2019 Finale and the Occult Meaning of Madonna’s Controversial Performance

As Madonna says these words, we see various Christian figures. Their new age is defined by the destruction of Christianity.

First, I need to say that people have the right to act and dress the way they want. And, if they’re talented enough, they definitely have the right to sing and take part in competitions. However, there was a clear and obvious overrepresentation of gender-ambiguous people during Eurovision and I am convinced that lots of them were there BECAUSE they were trans or drag queens and not because of talent. As stated in countless articles in the past, there is an agenda to expose the masses (and especially young people) to gender confusion. And Eurovision did its part. Here are some people who performed during the finale...https://vigilantcitizen.com/moviesandtv/eurovision-2019-finale-and-the-occult-meaning-of-madonnas-controversial-performance/

The invention of Islamophobia

Islamophobia was invented to silence those Muslims who question the Koran and who demand equality of the sexes. By Pascal Bruckner

At the end of the 1970s, Iranian fundamentalists invented the term "Islamophobia" formed in analogy to "xenophobia". The aim of this word was to declare Islam inviolate. Whoever crosses this border is deemed a racist. This term, which is worthy of totalitarian propaganda, is deliberately unspecific about whether it refers to a religion, a belief system or its faithful adherents around the world.

But confession has no more in common with race than it has with secular ideology. Muslims, like Christians, come from the Arab world, Africa, Asia and Europe, just as Marxists, liberals and anarchists come or came from all over. In a democracy, no one is obliged to like religion, and until proved otherwise, they have the right to regard it as retrograde and deceptive. Whether you find it legitimate or absurd that some people regard Islam with suspicion – as they once did Catholicism – and reject its aggressive proselytism and claim to total truth – this has nothing to do with racism...http://www.signandsight.com/features/2123.html

Jonathan Charlton, CTV Saskatoon
Published Tuesday, May 21, 2019 5:32PM CST

Saskatoon Police Service says it is looking into an apparent assault on a woman by several children at Pleasant Hill Park.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. Monday, according to a witness CTV news spoke with.
Bonnie Halcrow is the woman seen in the footage. She told CTV News that she feared for the life of her 10-year-old child, who could only watch as her mother was beaten.

“All I could think about was ‘I hope my daughter is OK,’” Halcrow said over the phone.
Halcrow, who lives in Manitoba, said she’d been visiting Saskatoon since Friday.

The video appears to show a group of young children punching and kicking Halcrow several times before dispersing....https://saskatoon.ctvnews.ca/mobile/hope-my-daughter-is-ok-woman-attacked-in-video-in-park-says-she-was-scared-for-her-daughter-s-life-1.4431587

1984 Turns 70-Years-Old In A World That Looks A Lot Like The Book

Authored by John Vibes via ActivistPost.com,

In the world of Nineteen Eighty-Four, there is an all-encompassing surveillance state that keeps a watchful eye on everyone, in search of possible rebels and points of resistance.

Censorship is the norm in this world, and is so extreme that individuals can become “unpersons” who are essentially deleted from society because their ideas were considered dangerous by the establishment. This is an idea that is very familiar to activists and independent journalists who are being removed from the public conversation for speaking out about government and corporate corruption on social media.

Orwell is famous for coining the term “double-speak,” which is a way to describe the euphemistic language that government uses to whitewash their most dirty deeds. For example, in Orwell’s story, the ministry of propaganda was called the Ministry of Truth, just as today the government agency that was once known as “The Department of War,” is now called the “Department of Defense.”...https://www.theburningplatform.com/2019/05/14/1984-turns-70-years-old-in-a-world-that-looks-a-lot-like-the-book/

Surviving Jonestown

Before the 9/11 Islamic extremist terrorist attacks, one of the biggest losses of American civilian life was the Jonestown Massacre in 1978. At its heart was Jim Jones, whose San Francisco- based cult became largely untouchable because of his political influence. As rumors spread about abuses within his church, Jones left the country with hundreds of followers to start a socialist Utopia in South America. A young Congressional aide named Jackie Speier was part of a group investigating Jonestown 41 years ago and survived the massacre. Today she’s a Congresswoman herself and tells her story in the new book Undaunted.

By the mid-70’s, Jim Jones had attracted 20,000 followers to his San Francisco church preaching against capitalism and what he called a racist America.

Jim Jones: But anything I hate is a funky middle-of-the-road liberal that won’t stand up for anything and falls for everything. Peace. But I believe that the only honorable thing is to be a socialist, an international socialist...http://fullmeasure.news/news/cover-story/surviving-jonestown

Wild pigs invade Canadian provinces—an emerging crisis for agriculture and the environment

news.usask.ca

The first-ever published survey of the wild pig distribution in Canada has found a rapid expansion in the invasive species’ range, which is increasing by nine per cent a year.

“Wild pigs are ecological train wrecks. They are prolific breeders making them an extremely successful invasive species,” said Ruth Aschim, a PhD student who led the research published today in Nature Scientific Reports. “Wild pigs can cause soil erosion, degrade water quality, destroy crops, and prey on small mammals, amphibians and birds.”

Wild boar were brought from Europe in the late 1980s and early 1990s to diversify Canadian livestock production.  Others were imported as ‘penned game’ for shooting.

The hybrid wild pigs have rapidly multiplied and spread, making them the most prolific invasive mammal in Canada...https://news.usask.ca/articles/research/2019/wild-pigs-invade-canadian-provincesan-emerging-crisis-for-agriculture-and-the-environment.php

Israel to name new Golan Heights town after President Trump

I'm sure AOC, Tlaib & Omar will be tickled pink upon hearing this news. Thomas

Leah Rosenberg

What a move! After all that President Trump has done for Israel, Bibi announced that a new community in the Golan Heights will be named for Trump.

The Golan Heights

The Golan Heights is in Israel’s north. It is a beautiful area. It is also a strategic area that Israel must remain in control of. And President Donald Trump understands that. After his historic decision to recognize the Golan as part of Israel, the Jewish people and Israel were very appreciative. So much so that PM Netanyahu brought forth a resolution calling for a new community in that area to be named after the president of the United States!...https://israelunwired.com/israel-to-name-new-golan-heights-town-after-president-trump/

The long and tangled history of Alfred E. Neuman.

Postcard that later inspired Norman Mingo’s, Alfred E. Neuman.

In a 1975 interview with the New York Times, MAD Magazine founder Harvey Kurtzman recalled an illustration of a grinning boy he’d spotted on a postcard in the early fifties: a “bumpkin portrait,” “part leering wiseacre, part happy-go-lucky kid.” It was captioned “What, Me Worry?”
That bumpkin became Alfred E. Neuman, MAD’s mascot, who turns sixty this year—kind of. The impish, immutable redhead made his official debut in December 1956, when he appeared on the cover of MAD no. 30 as a write-in candidate for president. He’s appeared on almost every MAD cover since: possessing, spoofing, and spooking cultural icons with nothing more than a drowsy rictus.

Though MAD gave him a purpose, a permanent home, his origin story remains elusive. It involves, among other things, a plum-pudding advertisement, a dubious lawsuit, and a traveling nineteenth-century farce. Neuman is forever synonymous with the magazine and its infinite irreverence, but the riddle of his real age may be the trickster’s trump card...https://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2016/03/03/a-boy-with-no-birthday-turns-sixty/

Canada provides $2.4m for 128,000 Palestinians in Gaza, West Bank

Published in: Asia & Americas, Canada, Middle East, News, Palestine

The Government of Canada has provided the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) with a contribution of CAD$3.2 million (approximately US $2.4 million) to support 128,000 vulnerable Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, on Thursday, Ma’an News reports.

According to a press release, WFP will use the funds to meet basic food needs of 91,000 food-insecure non-refugees in Gaza through electronic vouchers for around one and a half months and 37,000 vulnerable Bedouin and herders in the West Bank for three months.

WFP Representative and Country Director, Stephen Kearney, “We’re grateful for Canada’s commitment to provide food assistance to the most vulnerable Palestinians.”

Kearney said, “Continued food assistance is critical as the number of food-insecure people in Palestine is on the rise with people having to skip meals, take on debts and count on the support of neighbours and friends.”...https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20190509-canada-provides-2-4m-for-128000-palestinians-in-gaza-west-bank/

'We're winning': how a Canadian province the size of France stays rat-free

Many Albertans have never actually seen a rat. Photograph: blickwinkel / Alamy/Alamy

From his base in rural Alberta, Phil Merrill has fielded phone calls from around the world. And whether they’re dialling him up from New Zealand or Ireland, the question is always the same: how do you get rid of rats?
For nearly 50 years, Merrill has been on the frontlines of a singular – and victorious – battle, transforming the western Canadian province into one of the world’s only rat-free jurisdictions...https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/nov/15/alberta-rat-catcher-phil-merill-canada-pest-free
