Ian and Sylvia "Four Strong Winds"

Secret Diary of Admiral Byrd?

...30/12/56: FINAL ENTRY:
These last few years elapsed since 1947 have not been kind...I now make my final entry in this singular diary. In closing, I must state that I have faithfully kept this matter secret as directed all these years. It has been completely against my values of moral right. Now, I seem to sense the long night coming on and this secret will not die with me, but as all truth shall, it will triumph and so it shall.

This can be the only hope for mankind. I have seen the truth and it has quickened my spirit and has set me free! I have done my duty toward the monstrous military industrial complex. Now, the long night begins to approach, but there shall be no end. Just as the long night of the Arctic ends, the brilliant sunshine of Truth shall come again....and those who are of darkness shall fall in it's Light..FOR I HAVE SEEN THAT LAND BEYOND THE POLE, THAT CENTER OF THE GREAT UNKNOWN.

This was filmed between 4th and 11th April 2011. I had the pleasure of visiting El Teide.
Spain´s highest mountain @(3718m) is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world´s best observatories.

The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know El Teide. I have to say this was one of the most exhausting trips I have done. There was a lot of hiking at high altitudes and probably less than 10 hours of sleep in total for the whole week. Having been here 10-11 times before I had a long list of must-see locations I wanted to capture for this movie, but I am still not 100% used to carrying around so much gear required for time-lapse movies.

A large sandstorm hit the Sahara Desert on the 9th April ( and at approx 3am in the night the sandstorm hit me, making it nearly impossible to see the sky with my own eyes.

Interestingly enough my camera was set for a 5 hour sequence of the milky way during this time and I was sure my whole scene was ruined. To my surprise, my camera had managed to capture the sandstorm which was backlit by Grand Canary Island making it look like golden clouds. The Milky Way was shining through the clouds, making the stars sparkle in an interesting way. So if you ever wondered how the Milky Way would look through a Sahara sandstorm, look at 00:32.

Chances are that you've probably belted the chorus to this song a bunch of times, perhaps a little too loud and a lot off pitch...

45 years after its initial release on his album Madman On The Water, Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" has finally gotten a proper music video treatment...

Canadian Detained in China Held 24/7 in Handcuffs, Shackles

By , Epoch Times

Sun Qian, a Canadian citizen detained in China, has been held in handcuffs and leg shackles continuously, day and night, since May 5, her sister says.

Sun, a Vancouver resident and Canadian citizen, was arrested in Beijing on Feb. 19 for her practice of Falun Gong and detained at Beijing First Detention Centre.

According to Sun’s sister, Sun Zan, the handcuffs and shackles were removed prior to a visit with Sun by officials from the Canadian embassy in Beijing on May 18. It’s unknown whether they were put back on after the visit.

As vice-president of Beijing Leadman Biochemistry Co., Ltd., Sun often travelled between Vancouver and China. But on Feb. 19, about 20 police officers arrested her at her residence in Beijing and confiscated her Falun Gong books and other personal belongings...

Colorado man takes his dog on incredible adventures

Pictures and story obtained from FB.
Also from the post by Jelisa Castrodale.

Colorado man Kelly Lund says that he hopes to inspire other pet owners to explore nature and "make memories" with their own pets. Lund claims that he believes dogs aren't meant to live out their lives in a backyard or inside a house. The Colorado man and Loki, a two-year-old Wolf-dog ( A beautiful blend of Husky, Arctic Wolf, and Malamute ) are taking as many adventures together as possible they can, the kind of adventures that involves deep snow, mountain peaks, and long nights sleeping underneath nothing but as many constellations as they can count.
Lund posts breath-taking photographs of their travels on Facebook and Instagram, carefully composed images that will probably make you want to grab your own dog, lace your boots and head into the wilderness beyond your own front yard. And that's what matters...

JDL partners with Soldiers of Odin on ‘ad hoc’ basis

By Paul Lungen, Staff Reporter Soldiers of Odin Canada and the Jewish Defence League have provided “security” together at protests. PEGIDA WATCH Canada PHOTO

The images of Soldiers of Odin (SOO) that have made the news and been circulated across the Internet are far from flattering. They purport to show members of the club – which has been labeled racist, extremist and Islamophobic – engaged in violence with anti-racist protesters.

Meir Weinstein has seen the images too. The organization that he heads, the Jewish Defence League (JDL), was present at the event April 1 at Nathan Phillips Square, in front of Toronto City Hall, jointly providing “security” with SOO, when SOO clashed briefly with the self-styled anti-racist protesters.

Weinstein believes the Soldiers of Odin have gotten a bad rap.

Both groups had been asked to provide security for Sandra Solomon, a Muslim apostate who has been a vocal critic of Motion M-103, the private member’s motion that called on parliamentarians to condemn Islamophobia and other forms of racism...

An eruption at Bogoslof volcano – one of two to erupt in the Aleutian Islands Tuesday – is its first after more than two months of inactivity, causing ash to fall in a nearby community before drifting south over the Pacific Ocean.

The Alaska Volcano Observatory said Tuesday night's eruption at the volcano about 60 miles west of Unalaska, which began just after 10:30 p.m. and lasted for 73 minutes, sent a plume to an altitude of 34,000 feet...

David Neils isn’t your average wildlife photographer. Amazing video & photos

Steve Staeger, KUSA

LOVELAND, COLO. - David Neils isn’t your average wildlife photographer. He doesn’t sit in one place, waiting for the perfect shot. Instead, he just uses hidden cameras.

“People have an image in their head about mountain lions based on TV shows… based on Disney… that they’re lying up there on a rock scratching their claws, and the Lion King music is playing in the background,” he said. “That’s not it at all.....

There are so many singularly spectacular moments during the five-minute-45-second-long performance—Janis Joplin singing “Ball and Chain” with Big Brother and the Holding Company at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival—that you can basically jump to any random point during playback and marvel at what’s going on....

Nikki Haley calls for US to move embassy to Jerusalem

U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley on Tuesday night called for the embassy to be moved from Tel Aviv, Israel, to Jerusalem despite the Trump administration's apparent stalling on the issue.

"Obviously I believe that the capital should be Jerusalem and the embassy should be moved to Jerusalem because if you look at all their government is in Jerusalem. So much of what goes on is in Jerusalem and I think we have to see that for what it is," Haley said in an interview on The Brody File...

What’s Going on August 21st

By Terena Bell

Damien Deltenre

August 21st, the world will experience the first total solar eclipse to only be visible within US borders. In roughly an hour and a half — less time than it takes to watch a movie — the Moon’s shadow will cross from Depoe Bay, Oregon to McClellanville, South Carolina. And in its path, professional researchers, eclipse-chasers, and citizen scientists are preparing for the big event. Here’s a short sample of the hundreds of experiments happening:..

Osiris and Isis: Reunited in the underworld...

Osiris (Asir) was the first son of Geb and Nut and the brother of Set, Horus (the elder), Isis and Nephthys. He was one of the most prominent gods of the Heliopolitan Ennead, but his worship pre-dated the development of this fairly complex philosophy. Although Atum was installed as the head of the Ennead by the priests of Heliopolis, Osiris was considered to be the king of the underworld, and is the only deity who is referred to simply as "god". This gives us some indication of his prominence and popularity.

Many of Ancient Egypt's Gods and Goddesses share characteristics and epithets at different times in history. For example, Sekhmet (the lion Goddess of Memphis), Mut, Tefnut and Hathor are all given the title 'the Eye of Ra' and given the task of protecting the sun god. There is often confusion about the different gods known as Horus. For example, Horus the elder was often thought to be the consort of Hathor, while Horus the younger was the son of Isis and Osiris. This is unsurprising given that the Egyptian civilisation survived for over three thousand years, and the religious system was constantly evolving...

Apps, Sites, Info: ICMN’S 2017 Native Travel Information Guide

Perhaps your Native travel plans will take you to Bishop Paiute Territory, near the Buttermilk boulders. Photo by Thosh Collins

As the snow begins to melt across the Great Plains, the desert temperatures reach above the 80s, and the skies turn brighter from coast to coast, we embrace spring and know that summer will be here in no time. Across Indian country in North America, this season means Native travel.

We all know that all land in North America is indigenous land, but unfortunately, Native stories and aboriginal information are often left off mainstream travel and tourism guides, maps and digital resources. We also know that there are pockets of the tourism industry that continue to appropriate Native culture and misinform the public on our true history and culture. Fortunately, lots of people and programs are working hard to get the right information out there. We now have access to dozens of apps and websites with real Native travel information, and the list continues to grow...

Here Are All the Craziest Exploits of Soviet Special Forces

The Russian Special Forces were created right after the end of the Second World War and have most been involved in covert operations worldwide.

What started off as the Spetsnaz GRU (a part of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Defense Ministry) in 1949 has developed into into a highly diversified structure of narrowly focused special units.

Russia now has units to operate under water, in the Arctic region, mountainous areas, and foreign countries, where tasks might even include toppling governments.

As all activities of the Special Forces are top-secret, we can only talk about the most famous covert operations described in open sources...

Global 'ransomware' attack hits more than 100,000 organizations

The Associated Press

Europol, the European Union's police agency, says the international "ransomware" cyberattack that began on Friday has so far hit more than 100,000 organizations in at least 150 countries.

Spokesman Jan Op Gen Oorth said Sunday that the number of individuals who have fallen victim to the cyberextortion attack could be much higher.

He said it was too early to say who is behind the onslaught and what their motivation was.
The main challenge, he said, was the fast-spreading capabilities of the malware, but added that so far, not many people have paid the ransoms that the virus demands.

He warned that more people may be hit by the virus Monday when they return to work and switch on their computers...
