Everyone and their dog is taking CBD—a non-intoxicating compound derived from the cannabis plant—for pain, insomnia, arthritis, anxiety and more. But so far there’s little scientific evidence it does anything..." by Read Here: https://www.chatelaine.com/health/cbd-oil-canada/

Behind the Scenes of a Radical New Cancer Cure

An unexpected early morning phone call from the hospital is never good news. When Joy Johnson answered, her first thought was that Sharon Birzer, her partner of 15 years, was dead. Her fears were amplified by the voice on the other end refusing to confirm or deny it. Just “come in and talk to one of the doctors,” she remembers the voice saying.

Johnson knew this was a real possibility. A few weeks earlier, she and Birzer sat in the exam room of a lymphoma specialist at Stanford University. Birzer’s cancer had grown, and fast — first during one type of chemotherapy, then through a second. Out of standard options, Birzer’s local oncologist had referred her for a novel treatment called chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy — or CAR-T. Birzer and Johnson knew the treatment was risky. They were warned there was a chance of death. There was also a chance of serious complications such as multi-organ failure and neurological impairment. But it was like warning a drowning person that her lifeboat could have problems. Without treatment, the chance of Birzer’s death was all but certain. She signed the consent form...

New drug target in fight against cancer

Summary:
Researchers have discovered how a cancer-linked version of the protein mitoNEET can close voltage-dependent anion channels (VDAC), primary gateways in the outer surface of mitochondria. The researchers detail how mitoNEET regulates VDAC, and they show that the interactions between the two proteins could be disrupted by a drug that targets VDAC.

Researchers have identified a potential new drug target in the fight against cancer.
In a study this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, an international team of researchers describe how a cancer-linked version of the protein mitoNEET can close the primary gateways in the outer surface of mitochondria, the "power plants" that supply cells with chemical energy. These gateways, or "voltage-dependent anion channels" (VDACs), normally open and close to allow the passage of metabolites and other small molecules between mitochondria and the rest of the cell....https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/09/190918131516.htm

"Cremation of Sam McGee" Written by Robert Service, read by Johnny Cash

The Walrus and the Carpenter By Lewis Carroll

The Walrus and the Carpenter By Lewis Carroll

"The sun was shining on the sea,
      Shining with all his might:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright —
And this was odd, because it was
      The middle of the night.

The moon was shining sulkily,
      Because she thought the sun
Had got no business to be there
After the day was done —
"It's very rude of him," she said,
"To come and spoil the fun."

The sea was wet as wet could be,
The sands were dry as dry.
You could not see a cloud, because
No cloud was in the sky:
No birds were flying overhead —
There were no birds to fly.

The Walrus and the Carpenter
      Were walking close at hand;
They wept like anything to see
      Such quantities of sand:
If this were only cleared away,'
They said, it would be grand!'

If seven maids with seven mops
Swept it for half a year,
Do you suppose,' the Walrus said,
That they could get it clear?'
I doubt it,' said the Carpenter,
      And shed a bitter tear.

O Oysters, come and walk with us!'
      The Walrus did beseech.
A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk,
      Along the briny beach:
We cannot do with more than four,
To give a hand to each.'

The eldest Oyster looked at him,
But never a word he said:
The eldest Oyster winked his eye,
And shook his heavy head —
Meaning to say he did not choose
      To leave the oyster-bed.

But four young Oysters hurried up,
      All eager for the treat:
Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,
Their shoes were clean and neat —
And this was odd, because, you know,
      They hadn't any feet.

Four other Oysters followed them,
      And yet another four;
And thick and fast they came at last,
And more, and more, and more —
All hopping through the frothy waves,
      And scrambling to the shore.

The Walrus and the Carpenter
Walked on a mile or so,
And then they rested on a rock
      Conveniently low:
And all the little Oysters stood
      And waited in a row.

The time has come,' the Walrus said,
      To talk of many things:
Of shoes — and ships — and sealing-wax —
Of cabbages — and kings —
And why the sea is boiling hot —
      And whether pigs have wings.'

But wait a bit,' the Oysters cried,
      Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!'
No hurry!' said the Carpenter.
They thanked him much for that.

A loaf of bread,' the Walrus said,
      Is what we chiefly need:
Pepper and vinegar besides
      Are very good indeed —
Now if you're ready, Oysters dear,
      We can begin to feed.'

But not on us!' the Oysters cried,
      Turning a little blue.
After such kindness, that would be
      A dismal thing to do!'
The night is fine,' the Walrus said.
      Do you admire the view?

It was so kind of you to come!
      And you are very nice!'
The Carpenter said nothing but
      Cut us another slice:
I wish you were not quite so deaf —
I've had to ask you twice!'

It seems a shame,' the Walrus said,
To play them such a trick,
After we've brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!'
The Carpenter said nothing but
      The butter's spread too thick!'

I weep for you,' the Walrus said:
      I deeply sympathize.'
With sobs and tears he sorted out
      Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
      Before his streaming eyes.

O Oysters,' said the Carpenter,
      You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none —
And this was scarcely odd, because
      They'd eaten every one."

Cat ladders: a creative solution for felines in flats – in pictures

'Cat owners in Bern are particularly concerned about the wellbeing of their cat, a phenomenon called humanisation,’ Schuster says. ‘Cat ladders are part of this process of humanisation. They help cats to ascend and descend, just as we humans use staircases or ladders’

Israel prepares to break ground on new ‘Trump city’

The area designated for "Trump City" | Photo: Golan Regional Council

U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights sparked considerable excitement in Israel, leading to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s call for the founding of a new community in the northern region to be named after the U.S. president.

The community – which is still in its early stages – will house 97 families. These past few weeks its popularity has grown and due to a large number of inquiries, the settlement has even created a hotline.

“We have received close to 100 inquiries, mostly from families in the U.S. and Canada who say that they want to make aliyah and live in ‘Trump city,'” Golan Regional Council head Haim Rokach said.

During the Six-Day War in 1967, Israel captured the Golan Heights. While the area has long been contested and  U.S. administration’s refused to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the region until Trump broke with that policy and noted that it should remain part of Israel due to its strategic importance...https://www.israelhayom.com/2019/05/24/the-pioneers-of-trump-heights/

Windsor photographer's shot of bald eagle and its reflection goes viral

Biro says the eagle had flown over the pond multiple times. (Submitted by Steve Biro)

Steve Biro had the photo of an eagle and its reflection in his mind before he went out door that day.

Even with a clear artistic vision, Biro wasn't sure he'd be successful. When he had tried to achieve that vision previously, it hadn't worked out.

"The year prior, the water was quite ripply. I found myself I wasn't in a great position to get the image that I was really hoping for," said Biro, who has been doing amateur photography for about ten years.

"This time I sat myself right down by the water. I laid down on a rock right at the water's edge and got nice and low."

And Biro was rewarded...https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/bald-eagle-steve-biro-1.5145556

Eurovision 2019 Finale and the Occult Meaning of Madonna’s Controversial Performance

As Madonna says these words, we see various Christian figures. Their new age is defined by the destruction of Christianity.

First, I need to say that people have the right to act and dress the way they want. And, if they’re talented enough, they definitely have the right to sing and take part in competitions. However, there was a clear and obvious overrepresentation of gender-ambiguous people during Eurovision and I am convinced that lots of them were there BECAUSE they were trans or drag queens and not because of talent. As stated in countless articles in the past, there is an agenda to expose the masses (and especially young people) to gender confusion. And Eurovision did its part. Here are some people who performed during the finale...https://vigilantcitizen.com/moviesandtv/eurovision-2019-finale-and-the-occult-meaning-of-madonnas-controversial-performance/

The invention of Islamophobia

Islamophobia was invented to silence those Muslims who question the Koran and who demand equality of the sexes. By Pascal Bruckner

At the end of the 1970s, Iranian fundamentalists invented the term "Islamophobia" formed in analogy to "xenophobia". The aim of this word was to declare Islam inviolate. Whoever crosses this border is deemed a racist. This term, which is worthy of totalitarian propaganda, is deliberately unspecific about whether it refers to a religion, a belief system or its faithful adherents around the world.

But confession has no more in common with race than it has with secular ideology. Muslims, like Christians, come from the Arab world, Africa, Asia and Europe, just as Marxists, liberals and anarchists come or came from all over. In a democracy, no one is obliged to like religion, and until proved otherwise, they have the right to regard it as retrograde and deceptive. Whether you find it legitimate or absurd that some people regard Islam with suspicion – as they once did Catholicism – and reject its aggressive proselytism and claim to total truth – this has nothing to do with racism...http://www.signandsight.com/features/2123.html

'Hope my daughter is OK': Woman attacked in video in park says she was scared for her daughter's life - update

Jonathan Charlton, CTV Saskatoon
Published Tuesday, May 21, 2019 5:32PM CST

Saskatoon Police Service says it is looking into an apparent assault on a woman by several children at Pleasant Hill Park.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. Monday, according to a witness CTV news spoke with.
Bonnie Halcrow is the woman seen in the footage. She told CTV News that she feared for the life of her 10-year-old child, who could only watch as her mother was beaten.

“All I could think about was ‘I hope my daughter is OK,’” Halcrow said over the phone.
Halcrow, who lives in Manitoba, said she’d been visiting Saskatoon since Friday.

The video appears to show a group of young children punching and kicking Halcrow several times before dispersing....https://saskatoon.ctvnews.ca/mobile/hope-my-daughter-is-ok-woman-attacked-in-video-in-park-says-she-was-scared-for-her-daughter-s-life-1.4431587
