Canada Hopes to Jail People Who Stand Against Transgenderism

... "As a society, we have taken many important steps toward recognizing and protecting the legal rights for the LGBTQ2 community—from enshrining equality rights in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to the passage of the Civil Marriage Act. There remains much to be done, though. Far too many people still face harassment, discrimination and violence for being who they are. This is unacceptable," Trudeau says..."This enactment amends the Canadian Human Rights Act to add gender identity and gender expression to the list of prohibited grounds of discrimination. The enactment also amends the Criminal Code to extend the protection against hate propaganda set out in that Act to any section of the public that is distinguished by gender identity or expression and to clearly set out that evidence that an offence was motivated by bias, prejudice or hate based on gender identity or expression constitutes an aggravating circumstance that a court must take into consideration when it imposes a sentence."...>>http://www.charismanews.com/opinion/watchman-on-the-wall/57356-canada-hopes-to-jail-people-who-stand-against-transgenderism

Hungry black bears descend on Fort McMurray
Daniel Otis, Special to CTVNews.ca
With their habitat destroyed by northern Alberta’s raging wildfire, hungry black bears are now moving into the evacuated city of Fort McMurray to scavenge for food.
“What we’ve got is tons of spoiling food inside houses in the heart of prime black bear range,” University of Alberta conservation biologist Lee Foote told CTV News on Friday. “You couldn’t create a better potential to attract black bears from a large area... and there are a lot of black bears in the area.”
Although the number of bears that have entered the city remains unknown, YouTube footage has surfaced of the animals scavenging through burning debris. Residents are expected to begin returning to the city on June 1...Continue reading...

Weaponizing Humor and Ridicule Against ISIS
Aki Peritz
How do you fight an idea?
Governments and NGOs are trying to do so in a variety of ways—community outreach, tough policing, aggressive tweeting—in the quest to ‘counter violent extremism,’ mostly of the ISIS and al Qaeda variety.
But the jury remains out whether these high-minded efforts are indeed generating desired results. One only has to glance at the scientific studies that show how arguing with, say, anti-vaccination activists makes them cling more tightly to their beliefs. It’s possible deploying earnest arguments with the ISIS-curious may paradoxically end up reinforcing their worldview.
So let’s try something different than just being earnest and serious. Instead, let’s ridicule ISIS on a global scale....>>http://www.overtaction.org/2016/05/weaponizing-humor-and-ridicule-against-isis/

'Sohrab and Rustum' By Matthew Arnold
Sohrab and Rustum
An Episode
AND the first grey of morning fill'd the east,
And the fog rose out of the Oxus stream.
But all the Tartar camp along the stream
Was hush'd, and still the men were plunged in sleep;
Sohrab alone, he slept not; all night long
He had lain wakeful, tossing on his bed;
But when the grey dawn stole into his tent,
He rose, and clad himself, and girt his sword,
And took his horseman's cloak, and left his tent,
And went abroad into the cold wet fog,
Through the dim camp to Peran-Wisa's tent...Continue reading poem...

This Donkey Was Supposed to Be a Live Meal for a Wolf, But Became His Best Friend Instead
Kate Good
Sometimes, friendship comes in the strangest package. Take for example these unlikely friends: a donkey and a wolf who have become best friends. The wolf was captured from the mountains of Patok, Albania, in 2007, after being held in a cage by a villager. Knowing the wolf would need to eat, the villager brought in a donkey and left the two alone in the wolf’s cage. Thinking the wolf would make the donkey his dinner, the villager was certainly surprised to see what happened next.
The donkey and wolf became best friends, cohabiting the cage in complete peace. The pair quickly gained media attention, which lead Care2 to develop a petition for the wolf’s release. The petition asked the Albanian government to intervene in the village and arrange for the wolf to be transported back to his natural home in the mountains.
The Albanian government obliged and returned the wolf to his native habitat. The donkey was also released to an open pasture where he can roam free. It is said that the wolf comes to visit his friend every now and then. It is true that friendship knows no bounds of species, and these two certainly show us that! ...Read here.

Volcano Mount Sinabung, Samatra
AFP
KARO-Indonesian rescuers searched for
survivors in scorched villages and devastated farmlands Monday after a
volcano erupted in clouds of searing ash and gas, killing seven and
leaving others fighting life-threatening burns.
Witnesses have described sheer panic as waves of gas and fine rock were unleashed from Mount Sinabung on Sumatra island Saturday, consuming farmers trying to flee the slopes of the highly active volcano.
The fast-moving flows - reaching temperatures of up to 700 degrees Celsius (1,300 Fahrenheit) - incinerated homes and left livestock blackened and peeling.
Agustatius Sitepu, the head of the local military in Karo district where the volcano is situated, arrived to scenes of chaos as rescue crews raced to reach those left alive.

Egypt Air Crash: ‘Religion of Peace’ Strikes Again?
Paul Joseph Watson
NettwerkMusic
A terrorist attack is the most
likely explanation for the disappearance of an EgyptAir flight between
Paris and Cairo experts say, with French border police already
investigating whether an Islamist working at Charles de Gaulles airport
could have helped facilitate the attack.
The
plane went down during the night with 66 passengers on board. The
captain of a mercantile ship claims he saw flames in the sky 150 miles
south of the Greek Island of Karpathos near where the wreckage was
found.
“The French newspaper Le
Figaro quotes a French border police source as saying that investigators
will be focusing their attention on ground crew at Charles de Gaulles
airport, to establish whether any airport employees posed a security
risk,” reports BBC News.
“The source said that, in the past, a number of Salafists –
ultraconservative Muslims – had been detected among those with access to
the areas used for the loading and unloading of aircraft.”...http://www.infowars.com/egypt-air-crash-religion-of-peace-strikes-again/

The Ontario government will spend more than $7-billion over four years on a sweeping climate change plan that will affect every aspect of life – from what people drive to how they heat their homes and workplaces – in a bid to slash the province’s carbon footprint.
Ontario will begin phasing out natural gas for heating, provide incentives to retrofit buildings and give rebates to drivers who buy electric vehicles. It will also require that gasoline sold in the province contain less carbon, bring in building code rules requiring all new homes by 2030 to be heated with electricity or geothermal systems, and set a target for 12 per cent of all new vehicle sales to be electric by 2025...http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/ontario-to-spend-7-billion-in-sweeping-climate-change-plan/article30029081/

Why Atheists are ‘Fools’
By Matt Barber
They say there are no atheists in the foxhole.
Even fewer when death is certain.
None once the final curtain falls.
God’s Word declares, “The fool hath said in his heart ‘there is no God’” (Psalm 14).
For three decades, until his death in 1953, Josef Stalin was the mass-murdering atheist dictator of Soviet Russia.
He was also a fool.
In his 1994 book, “Can Man Live Without God,” famed Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias recounts a story he heard firsthand from British Journalist Malcomb Muggeridge “that stirred [him] then and still does even yet.”
Muggeridge had collaborated with Svetlana Stalin, Josef Stalin’s daughter, on a BBC documentary about her God-hating father. She recounted his last act of defiant rebellion against the Creator: “[A]s Stalin lay dying, plagued with terrifying hallucinations, he suddenly sat halfway up in bed, clenched his fist toward the heavens once more, fell back upon his pillow, and was dead.”
“[H]is one last gesture,” observed Zacharias, “was a clenched fist toward God, his heart as cold and hard as steel.”
Foot note; James 2:19(KJV) Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Calgary pilot breaks rules to fly Fort McMurray animals to shelter
By:
Jeremy Simes For Metro
Pilot Keith Mann didn’t think twice to break
the rules and load his plane with more than 40 furry friends, after they
spent a few days north of the fire-ravaged Fort McMurray.
More than 80,000 Fort McMurray residents were
ordered to flee last Tuesday, leaving many without their pets as they
were barred from re-entering the city due to the advancing wildfire.
Since then, owners and their fur babies have begun to reunite through ongoing animal rescue efforts after the flames subsided.
Mann, Suncor Energy’s manager of flight
operations, said it just made sense to fly his load of critters down
south after they sought refuge north of Fort McMurray.
“We’re all animal lovers here,” Mann said. “We knew it was important for owners to re-connect with them.”...Continue reading...

Ticks, they’re here early and they want blood.
Saskatchewan’s tick population has become active earlier this year due to an early snowmelt and unseasonably warm temperatures.
Normal weather patterns generally keep them at bay until later in the spring, according to Neil Chilton, tick researcher at the University of Saskatchewan.
Ticks start seeking a host when the temperature hits around 3 C, according to Yvonne Tiessens, a veterinarian with All West Veterinary Clinic in Saskatoon.
“There is a certain amount of revulsion associated with ticks, and everyone is worried about tick-borne diseases,” she said, noting her clinic checks animals for Lyme disease and other tick-borne pathogens.
The chance of a human getting Lyme disease from a tick is low, according to Chilton. Only one in every 1,000 ticks that are submitted to Chilton are Blacklegged ticks, which can carry the disease. Only 10 per cent of those are capable of spreading it to humans.
“There are a lot of myths surrounding pulling ticks out,” Tiessens said.
A gentle tug should be enough to remove one, and burning them or poking them with a pin is not advised. Routine checks for ticks after outdoor activities can help prevent them from becoming attached to the skin.
“They take a while before they decide whether they’re going to attach to someone or not,” Chilton said. “Usually they’ll walk around for an hour or so. You’ve got time to check yourself over.”...http://thestarphoenix.com/news/local-news/ticks-bite-early-due-to-spring-heat-wave
