The Blue Jays are in the midst of a blockbuster trade with the Miami Marlins.
Nothing official has been announced by the team as yet, but several reports — namely, from Fox Sports baseball columnists Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi — indicate it is an eight-player deal, with the Jays sending shortstops Yunel Escobar, Adeiny Hechavarria, as well as starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez and highly ranked pitching prospect Justin Nicolino to Miami in exchange for starting pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buerhle, shortstop Jose Reyes and catcher John Buck.
“It’s a good day to be a bluejay!” tweeted Jose Bautista at 6:45 p.m., as news of the trade circulated on Twitter. Read here.
