Saskatoon police say a pair of fatal overdoses are connected to a dangerous synthetic drug being sold in the city.
Investigators think Oxycontin 80 pills, recently seized by officers, may contain “other unknown deadly ingredients.” Oxycontin 80 pills are not readily available, said Saskatoon police in a news release, and that those being sold on the street are counterfeit.
Police say the deaths of the two men, both in their 20’s, were a result of the pills. The men died one day apart and were known to each other, police noted.
Saskatoon police, the integrated drug enforcement street team and the provincial coroner are all investigating their deaths.
The pills are described by police as blue-green, round convex shape, and with ‘80’ on one side and ‘CDN’ on the other.
