Following the death of Joan Rivers at age 81 on Thursday, her daughter, Melissa Rivers, released a statement: "My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh," it read in part.
Onstage and on TV, the sharp-tongued and absolutely fearless comedian did just that by taking on everything from Hollywood stars to housework.
