...30/12/56: FINAL ENTRY:
These last few years elapsed since 1947 have not been kind...I
now make my final entry in this singular diary. In closing, I
must state that I have faithfully kept this matter secret as
directed all these years. It has been completely against my
values of moral right. Now, I seem to sense the long night
coming on and this secret will not die with me, but as all truth
shall, it will triumph and so it shall.
This can be the only hope for mankind. I have seen the truth and
it has quickened my spirit and has set me free! I have done my
duty toward the monstrous military industrial complex. Now, the
long night begins to approach, but there shall be no end. Just
as the long night of the Arctic ends, the brilliant sunshine of
Truth shall come again....and those who are of darkness shall
fall in it's Light..FOR I HAVE SEEN THAT LAND BEYOND THE POLE,
THAT CENTER OF THE GREAT UNKNOWN. Admiral Richard E. Byrd

This was filmed between 4th and 11th April 2011. I had the pleasure of visiting El Teide.
Spain´s highest mountain @(3718m) is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world´s best observatories.
The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know El Teide. I have to say this was one of the most exhausting trips I have done. There was a lot of hiking at high altitudes and probably less than 10 hours of sleep in total for the whole week. Having been here 10-11 times before I had a long list of must-see locations I wanted to capture for this movie, but I am still not 100% used to carrying around so much gear required for time-lapse movies.
A large sandstorm hit the Sahara Desert on the 9th April (http://bit.ly/g3tsDW) and at approx 3am in the night the sandstorm hit me, making it nearly impossible to see the sky with my own eyes.
Interestingly enough my camera was set for a 5 hour sequence of the milky way during this time and I was sure my whole scene was ruined. To my surprise, my camera had managed to capture the sandstorm which was backlit by Grand Canary Island making it look like golden clouds. The Milky Way was shining through the clouds, making the stars sparkle in an interesting way. So if you ever wondered how the Milky Way would look through a Sahara sandstorm, look at 00:32.

Sun Qian, a Canadian citizen detained in China, has been held in
handcuffs and leg shackles continuously, day and night, since May 5, her
sister says.
Sun, a Vancouver resident and Canadian citizen, was arrested in
Beijing on Feb. 19 for her practice of Falun Gong and detained at
Beijing First Detention Centre.
According to Sun’s sister, Sun Zan, the handcuffs and shackles were
removed prior to a visit with Sun by officials from the Canadian embassy
in Beijing on May 18. It’s unknown whether they were put back on after
the visit.

man Kelly Lund says that he hopes to inspire other pet owners to
explore nature and "make memories" with their own pets. Lund claims that
he believes dogs aren't meant to live out their lives in a backyard or
inside a house. The Colorado man and Loki, a two-year-old Wolf-dog ( A
beautiful blend of Husky, Arctic Wolf, and Malamute ) are taking as many
adventures together as possible they can, the kind of adventures that
involves deep snow, mountain peaks, and long nights sleeping underneath
nothing but as many constellations as they can count.

By Paul Lungen, Staff ReporterSoldiers of Odin Canada and the Jewish Defence League have provided “security” together at protests. PEGIDA WATCH Canada PHOTO
The images of Soldiers of Odin (SOO) that
have made the news and been circulated across the Internet are far from
flattering. They purport to show members of the club – which has been
labeled racist, extremist and Islamophobic – engaged in violence with
anti-racist protesters.
Meir Weinstein has seen the images too. The organization
that he heads, the Jewish Defence League (JDL), was present at the event
April 1 at Nathan Phillips Square, in front of Toronto City Hall,
jointly providing “security” with SOO, when SOO clashed briefly with the
self-styled anti-racist protesters.
Weinstein believes the Soldiers of Odin have gotten a bad rap.
Both groups had been asked to provide security for Sandra Solomon, a Muslim apostate who has beena
vocal critic of Motion M-103, the private member’s motion that called
on parliamentarians to condemn Islamophobia and other forms of racism...http://www.cjnews.com/news/canada/jdl-partners-soldiers-odin-ad-hoc
ATLANTA—A moment of fiery competitiveness was
no justification for the homophobic slur outfielder Kevin Pillar
directed at an Atlanta Braves reliever on Wednesday night, an outburst
worthy of a two-game suspension in the eyes of the Toronto Blue Jays.
“There’s
no question that he was in the heat of the moment but that is no excuse
whatsoever,” club general manager Ross Atkins said a day later as he
announced Pillar’s suspension, effective immediately, just hours after
flying to Atlanta to specifically address the incident.
It occurred during the seventh inning of Toronto’s 8-4 loss to Atlanta on Wednesday.

August 21st, the world will experience the first total solar eclipse to
only be visible within US borders. In roughly an hour and a half — less
time than it takes to watch a movie — the Moon’s shadow will cross from
Depoe Bay, Oregon to McClellanville, South Carolina. And in its path,
professional researchers, eclipse-chasers, and citizen scientists are
preparing for the big event. Here’s a short sample of the hundreds of
experiments happening:..http://www.astronomy.com/news/2017/05/total-solar-eclipse-experiments
Osiris (Asir) was the first son of Geb and Nut and the brother of Set, Horus (the elder), Isis and Nephthys. He was one of the most prominent gods of the Heliopolitan Ennead, but his worship pre-dated the development of this fairly complex philosophy. Although Atum
was installed as the head of the Ennead by the priests of Heliopolis,
Osiris was considered to be the king of the underworld, and is the only
deity who is referred to simply as "god". This gives us some indication
of his prominence and popularity.
Many of Ancient Egypt's Gods and Goddesses share characteristics and epithets at different times in history. For example, Sekhmet (the lion Goddess of Memphis), Mut, Tefnut and Hathor are all given the title 'the Eye of Ra' and given the task of protecting the sun god. There is often confusion about the different gods known as Horus. For example, Horus the elder was often thought to be the consort of Hathor, while Horus the younger was the son of Isis and Osiris.
This is unsurprising given that the Egyptian civilisation survived for
over three thousand years, and the religious system was constantly
evolving...http://www.ancientegyptonline.co.uk/society.html

As the snow begins to melt across the Great Plains, the desert
temperatures reach above the 80s, and the skies turn brighter from coast
to coast, we embrace spring and know that summer will be here in no
time. Across Indian country in North America, this season means Native
travel.
We all know that all land in North America is indigenous land, but
unfortunately, Native stories and aboriginal information are often left
off mainstream travel and tourism guides, maps and digital resources. We
also know that there are pockets of the tourism industry that continue
to appropriate Native culture and misinform the public on our true
history and culture. Fortunately, lots of people and programs are
working hard to get the right information out there. We now have access
to dozens of apps and websites with real Native travel information, and
the list continues to grow...https://indiancountrymedianetwork.com/travel/destinations/native-travel-information-guide/?utm_content=buffer4b60a&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
The Russian Special Forces were created right after the end of the
Second World War and have most been involved in covert operations
worldwide.
What started off as the Spetsnaz GRU (a part of the Main Intelligence
Directorate of the Defense Ministry) in 1949 has developed into into a
highly diversified structure of narrowly focused special units.
Russia now has units to operate under water, in the Arctic region,
mountainous areas, and foreign countries, where tasks might even include
toppling governments.
Europol, the European Union's police agency, says the international
"ransomware" cyberattack that began on Friday has so far hit more than
100,000 organizations in at least 150 countries.
Spokesman Jan Op Gen Oorth said Sunday that the number of individuals
who have fallen victim to the cyberextortion attack could be much
higher.
He said it was too early to say who is behind the onslaught and what their motivation was.
The main challenge, he said, was the fast-spreading capabilities of
the malware, but added that so far, not many people have paid the
ransoms that the virus demands.
