Ellie the Moose is calling several Carleton County farms home after she was abandoned by her mother shortly after she was born.
Ellie the Moose, as she's become known around Giberson Settlement, was abandoned by her mother shortly after she was born in a potato field in September.
Ruth Ruff started taking care of the young moose in her barn, giving it milk and shelter. She called the Department of Natural Resources to let the local wardens know about the moose.

Game wardens took the moose away, but they couldn't find a suitable place for her. The wardens released her back into the wild but she eventually returned to Giberson Settlement.
Ruff said as long as they don't enclose Ellie in a fence, the provincial government said the moose can remain in the neighbourhood.
"[The wardens] drive by, but they don't bother anymore" she said.
