The Ministry of Health is reminding Saskatchewan residents that with the warm weather comes the need to guard against ticks when spending time outdoors.
Ticks are commonly found in wooded areas, tall grass and brush in rural and urban centres. Ticks can pass Lyme disease on to their hosts, although it happens infrequently.
"We did have a case late last fall that we think was acquired in the province," said entomologist and provincial West Nile coordinator Phil Curry. "We've had sporadic cases of Lyme disease over the years, most of which have been travelrelated - people travelling to an area where there's higher incidences of Lyme disease and ticks."...Read here...
