Teen beats cancer, wins lottery
TOWSON, Maryland (WBAL) - A 19-year-old cancer survivor developed a steadfast ritual that paid off in a short period of time with a $250,000 prize from Mega Millions.
For just more than a year, Nick Ruth of Towson, Maryland has purchased Mega Millions tickets from the 7-Eleven store closest to his job.
On Friday, Ruth wasn't scheduled to work but he went to the store because it "just felt right."
Over the weekend, Ruth realized his ticket matched five of the six numbers drawn.
"I couldn't believe it. So, I asked my mom to look at the ticket. Once we figured out how much I'd won, we started to run all over the house screaming. After we calmed down, we looked at each other and started screaming and running again," Ruth said.
