A secret camera hidden in Italy’s Apennine mountains has revealed a forest to be teeming with wildlife, from brown bears and wild boar to wolves and red deer.
Conservationists installed the camera and focused it on a clearing around a single beech tree for an entire year.
The camera recorded the
changes of the seasons, from summer through to the thick snow of
winter, and the comings and goings of animals, including foxes, badgers,
